I consider myself to be quite a positive person. Most of the times I can perfectly see the bright side of things. And if it’s not there, I tend to create it (oh, the perks of being a full-time dreamer).

Yet, as any other human being, I go through highs and lows. So today I want to talk a bit about dealing negativity, and share my point of view.

Before you start reading, you should know that I am no expert. As I mentioned, this is just me, discussing the topic from my own humble perspective.

Dealing with Negativity

The easiest (and probably worst) thing to do when dealing with negativity is blaming yourself. Yes, it might be your mind creating all the troubles, but depreciating yourself is not going to have any benefits. On the contrary, your negative emotions will multiply and overwhelm you in no time.

Give yourself a break

Relax, go for a walk, focus on your hobby. BREATHE. Do something that keeps your mind away from going even deeper into the matter.

Find the exact problem

After making sure you’re not dominated by scary emotions, take time to reflect. Does it happen often? In general, what generates your negativity? Is it something you worry about? Or is it a flaw you can’t embrace? Finding the problem is part of the solution. Create your way out of there.

Surround yourself with the right people

True friends would never try to bring you down. True friends should be able to understand that you can not fix their own problems.  Make sure you have the right people around you.

Embrace the bad, as well as the good

If it feels like it’s the end of the world, consider this: “The end of the world” may hide the beginning of something wonderful. I think that problems are sometimes essential. We go through them and we grow, learn, discover something new.

Talk about it

If your dark side gets impossible to control, prove yourself what a strong human being you are. Talk about it with someone who can actually help you.
